using a pattern from a magazine I made these adorable Robot Amigurumi for no reason in particular. They have magnets on their hands so they clack together. They're only about 4"-5" tall. Something I've been meaning to make for a few years. Finally just bit the bullet and did it.
First time making one of these Afghans. I think it turned out pretty well, except, I think instead of only two chains at the corners I will put three, or maybe three every second row so the points can stick out a little more. I used one of those free patterns from Walmart that was kicking around in my crochet binder for probably, too many years. A friend gave me a bunch of yarn while she was pregnant thinking she wouldn't have time after baby came to use it. The yellow yarn was from her so I think I will give this to her as a gift.
Originally I had pictured a golden yellow border, but, I am really trying to just use up stuff that I have, and I didn't have very much yellow left. I thought tassels would be super cute on the corners but maybe not for baby. Perhaps an upcoming project for future, some tassels maybe in order... a shawl scarf or something to that effect.
Well, as usual, Christmas was busy, busy, busy. Extra busy because I like to make many of the gifts I give. I spent a lot of time quilting in 2016 and already feel as though I will be doing a lot of yarn crafts in 2017.
So, my goal again this year (didn't do so well with it last year), well, one of many, is to make regular posts here when I complete projects. Years ago (12-14 years ago) when I was drawing all of the time and had just started sewing and crocheting toys and baby items, I used to post regularly to Flickr, then I was posting to Facebook (had a page at one time (5-6 years ago) more recently I post on Instagram (as specgirl - follow me if you please ;) ). So, as I said my goal is to post here more regularly as a way to document my creations and maybe possibly organize and motivate myself a little better.
I have already started planning Christmas/birthday gifts for 2017... before I can start posting about those, here are some of the things I made in 2016 for Christmas gifts for family and friends:
Some commissioned projects I worked on during the Christmas season were:
Last but not least, I made some tooth fairy pillows and some pyjama monsters.
